In her decade-plus career in politics, Overton founder Maria Oyama Leininger has worked to ensure campaigns have what they need to win. Maria is an award-winning political strategist and direct mail consultant who has a reputation for knowing how to get a successful result. She has extensive political experience on campaigns, as a consultant, and at a national Democratic Party Committee.
Maria’s extensive electoral experience includes working as a political consultant for clients at all levels of the ballot across the country, serving as a Regional Political Director advising seven states for the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, as Washington State Director for Senator Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign, as Political Director for three U.S. Representatives: Suzan DelBene, Kim Schrier, and Adam Smith, as Voter Protection Director at the Washington State Democratic Party, and as District Director for Congresswoman Kim Schrier.
In her career outside of politics, Maria is an educator and lawyer—most recently teaching political science and law courses at Movement School, Bellevue College, and Seattle University.
